Microcement Walls: Feature Walls, Wet Areas and Whole Rooms

A guide to specifying microcement walls — from a single feature wall to entire wet rooms and stairwells.

01

Where wall microcement excels

Living-room feature walls, fireplaces, entry walls, stairwells, media joinery surrounds, ensuite walls and full wet rooms. Anywhere paint or tile feels too flat, microcement adds depth, hand and warmth.

02

Texture and sheen

Walls can be finished in a smooth, mineral skin or with a more pronounced trowel-mark texture. Sheen ranges from matte through to a soft satin — selected to suit the room's light and the broader interior palette.

03

Substrates and joints

Microcement is applied over plasterboard, render, masonry and existing tile. Plasterboard joints and corners are reinforced with mesh during preparation to control movement and prevent hairline cracking.

04

Wet-area walls

For showers, wet rooms and splashbacks, walls receive the full Mineral fox / Mercadier waterproofing and sealing system, making them suitable for daily wet use without grout or silicone joins.

05

Care

Wipe with a soft cloth and pH-neutral cleaner. Touch-ups are possible because the finish is hand-applied, unlike factory-printed wall finishes.
