FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
The most common questions we hear about microcement — durability, waterproofing, application and care.
What is microcement?
+
Microcement is a thin, hand-applied cementitious coating that produces a seamless decorative finish over walls, floors, benchtops and more. It's typically 2–3mm thick and available in a wide range of custom colours.
Can microcement go over tiles?
+
Yes. Provided the existing tiles are sound, we can apply microcement directly over the top — often eliminating the need for demolition entirely.
Is microcement waterproof?
+
Our wet-area microcement is installed as a fully waterproof Mineral fox/Mercadier system, including approved waterproofing membranes, base coats, finish coats and protective sealers.
How thick is microcement?
+
A finished microcement system is typically 2–3mm thick, allowing it to be applied over existing substrates without major adjustments to door heights or fixtures.
How long does microcement last?
+
When applied as a complete system by an approved applicator and properly maintained, microcement can last for decades. Periodic resealing keeps the finish performing at its best.
Can microcement be used outdoors?
+
Yes — we use UV-stable, weather-rated Mineral fox/Mercadier outdoor systems with slip-resistant sealers for pool surrounds, terraces and alfresco areas.
How do you clean microcement?
+
Microcement is low maintenance. Day-to-day cleaning is simply warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner. We provide a care guide on completion of every project.
